TRUDIE DALRYMPLE
|
My inspiration comes from antique teddy bears, and from real-life animals. Much has been written about the timeless appeal of the teddy bear, and what intrigues me about old bears are their distinctive personalities: all beat up, slightly askew, having seen quite a bit of life's ups and downs. We find them still charming and loveable; isn't this the way we'd like to see ourselves? Each teddy bear, like us, holds years of hopes and confidences, personal histories, tiny moments of pleasure and sadness, the buzz of crickets and the light of a late summer afternoon. We are time travellers, backwards and forwards, hugging our teddy bears and whispering to them...
I have a BFA in Printmaking from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and have studied fashion design and textiles in Boston and San Francisco. In addition, I've worked in the graphic arts, in patternmaking, and in floral design.
