Fred Peltier, an architect by profession, began to paint fraktur some eight years ago after many years of collecting Pennsylvania German folk art and antiques. A native of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Fred traces his roots back to German immigrants who settled in Berks and Bucks Counties in the early eighteenth century. His fraktur paintings are done on antique laid or wove paper. Using an antique dipping pen and custom blended water colors, Fred is able to achieve the time worn look of museum pieces. Whenever possible, period frames are used.
Due to the unique qualities of his work, Fred sells only hand-drawn, handpainted one-of-a-kind originals. Custom orders such as personalized birth, baptismal and marriage certificates are also available. Most pieces are in the $150.00 to $400.00 price range.
