SMALL BROWN RUG
An old sweater, a blanket that is no longer useful to the family it once served, a long-forgotten mitten - these are the items I gather to make the beautiful wool felt I use in my work. I treasure the sense of history I feel when I am handling these abandoned details of life.
Stitching by hand, I piece together my scraps of wool and vintage textiles, adding carefully chosen antique buttons and other found objects, to create my whimsical interpretations of traditional folk art objects. These unique works of art - narrative folk art pictures as well as abstract creations - are dated, signed, and when appropriate, framed.
I enjoy making penny rugs, flags, dolls, make-do pincushions, and other fanciful items. I welcome requests for custom work.
