HOUSE BLESSING
Fraktur is an honest and sincere expression of the Pennsylvania German culture. Done by hand, using ink and watercolor, these documents recorded the various events in their family life. Birth, baptism, marriage and even death information was beautifully recorded. Also, several types of frakturs were made in school including the intricate Vorschrifts (writing exercises), bookplates and rewards of merit. These treasures, made by the hands of the scrivener as well as the unskilled, were stored in the family bible and rarely displayed.

Marta remains true to the sentiments from the early frakturs and allows their words to inspire her own designs. Her desire to create authentic folk art led her to the methods that are essentially the same as when the originals were made from 1750 to 1850. Her frakturs are framed in handgrained and vintage frames and include museum quality materials. Custom orders such as house blessings and marriage and birth records account for a large part of her one of a kind pieces.
