I worked as a woodcarver (See!) from 1985 until 2002, discovered my "inner nerd" and now work full time on TFA and designing websites for artists and the arts & crafts industry. |

One of the most professional artists that I've met, Kate supplied "the push" for me to pursue the idea for this site and is top sales person, assistant editor and head cheerleader. |

Responsible for all of the initial dynamic programming on the site, Nate was hired to make happen what I wanted to see happen. And he got the job done.

Web Design by Bush Prisby
This project was started in the fall of 2002, tossing around ideas for the design of a new website. I'd seen quite a few gallery style websites but none that presented artists in an upscale, polished presentation - much the same as the shows I was exhibiting in. Having had moderate success with my own site and a believer in the internet as a neccessity in today's business world, I decided to pursue the idea a bit.
I presented the idea and design to a fellow artist and friend, Kate Adams, in December of that year, and with her encouragement began the process of putting it all together. She agreed to work with me on the project and by default, became 1/2 of the two person jury for the website. Although not experts, we felt our quality standards would provide integrity within the site.
traditionalfolkart.com (TFA) was launched on January 19, 2004. We've replaced the two person jury - all applications are now reviewed by the entire membership, allowing for a broader perspective. TFA is not represented to be "the best of the best" or the "Top 100" - it is simply some of the finest work we have come across.
We welcome your feedback and suggestions, and hope that this site provides you with some unexpected pleasures.
